Colleen completed a Bachelor of Social Work in 1996, and a Masters of Social Work in 2004, both from the University of Regina. Since then, she has received her Spiritual Companion/Director training in 2006, Eye Movement Integration Training in 2013 and Somatic Experiencing Training in 2015.
Colleen works with couples, individuals and families dealing with a variety of issues including couple relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, abuse, disordered eating, separation/divorce, inter-country and private adoption home studies. Her counselling approach is client-centred, collaborative, and personalized. She listens to understand what approaches/techniques work best for a client and uses those ways of working to assist the client in reaching their goals.
She has also found that working on her own life balance and self care is a way to role model this important life aspect and support her clients in enhancing the life balance that they desire. Colleen continues to grow and learn constantly as a therapist- taking ongoing training to broaden and deepen her skills. She aspires to develop new skills and approaches to help clients deal with their issues and reach their potential. She is presently working on her certification to become an Emotionally Focused Therapist. Colleen really enjoys singing as a way to relax and loves to sing in choirs to create harmonies. Spending time with family and friends is rejuvenating for her, and she likes outdoor activities, building things and getting together for good food and conversation with family and friends.
